The major complaints with keyboarding today are back pain, shoulder and neck pain and headaches. A large percentage of these complaints can be alleviated through good posture and the proper positioning of the keyboard. Here's a quick check to do right now; see how you fair. being seated normally, are your knees bent at 80-110° with your feet flat on the floor? are you sitting upright? are your arms bent at 80-110° at the elbow while typing? are your upper arms from your shoulder to your elbow vertical and naturally hanging close to your body (any slight forward reaching of the arms increases the stress to the back {trapezius} muscles greatly)? If you answered "NO" to any of these, then you should seriously reconsider your work environment and find ways to create a more efficient and ergonomically correct area starting with a Keyboard Arm. |
